Coach: If you woke up everyday for a week and your ass hurt, would you tell anyone?

Me: Probably not.

Coach: Want to go to a training camp?

Me: Sure!

Camp Crystal Lake

Ok, that's not exactly how the conversation went but it is true, I am leaving for Tucson on Sunday for a week of swimming, biking and running.  I am excited and stressed simultaneously.  I am excited because I am going to pretend that I am a professional triathlete for one solid week.  I am stressed because I will be away from my business for one solid week!  A third variable to all of this is that my wife and I haven't been apart for that long ever.  I know, it seems silly but we're still newlyweds.

Regarding my current level of fitness entering the camp for each of the disciplines:

Swimming -- I am confident I can swim whatever distance is required but I'm a little nervous because I think it will be a Masters style format which I am unfamiliar with.  The downside of my swim training is that I only know how to do freestyle and until recently, I have only been accustomed to sharing the lane with one other person.  It should be interesting to see how well I do with a group and group instruction.

Cycling -- I've ramped up my volume in anticipation of the camp and I feel like I can hold my own as far as the distances.  The caliber of athletes attending will leave me feeling a bit inadequate in regards to pace but I think there are all levels of athletes attending so there will be company with me at the back of the pack.

Running -- I've been fortunate in that the mystery injury is slowly going away and I'm back to a reduced schedule.  My speed appears to be intact although I feel like my endurance isn't where I'd like it to be.  The camp is more cycling focused than anything else and I should be able to handle the load.

I purchased a Flip video camera in order to capture as much of the fun as I can although based on my few initial videos, the footage will be very amateur.

I have two days to get my crap together and I've got a few items remaining on my list -- a couple of workouts, a trip to the bike shop for supplies, pack all of my gear and "date night" with the Mrs. tomorrow night.

I'm planning on blogging each day of the camp but who knows, I might be totally wiped out and need my beauty rest.

Stay tuned... it should be interesting.
